Bahamas sand is raw, naturally renewable marine aragonite sand that is up to 98% pure calcium carbonate, and is tasteless, odourless, dustless and sustainable. Combined with its near chemical purity, size consistency, and small grain structure, Bahamas aragonite possesses numerous advantages making it a superior source of calcium carbonate.

Why Use Marine Aragonite? It is a pure Marine Aragonite sand collected from the crystal clear oceans of The Bahamas, with no harmful tar, or or impurities. Aragonite is part of a hermit crabs natural habitat and they will feel right at home with this superior substrate. 

DIRECTIONS: Cover the bottom of the tank with at least a 2 inch layer of marine aragonite. Hermit Crabs require a deep sand base in order to burrow. The friction of the sand will assist the moulting process of the Hermit Crab. 

Spot clean habitat as needed and replace aragonite approximately every 2 months.

Hermit Crabs are land crustaceans and spend their adult lives on sandy dunes, rocky beaches and mangroves. Hermit Crabs are not recognised as true crabs because they lack a broad flat shell. They have an omnivorous diet consisting of vegetable matter and carrion in the wild. They love to climb and clamber over dried driftwood placed in the middle of their enclosure. These crustaceans are exceedingly docile, only nipping with their pincers in self-defence.
