Optimal Converter Tubes are a highly efficient filter media, both mechanically and biologically. Mechanically, as a pre-filter they are extremely important to water flow, reduction in filter clogging and assisting with maintaining pumping rates. This is achieved by their physical shape, they allow water to ebb and flow evenly throughout the tubes and simultaneously trap organic matter, assuring reduced clogging and even water flow, before the water enters the next stage in the filtration process. 

Biologically, Optimal Converter Tubes are manufactured from highly efficient sintered glass, which can house millions of nitrifying bacteria, removing ammonia and nitrite which are toxic to fish.
