Optimal Converter Beads maintain water quality by converting the toxic ammonia and nitrite into nitrate. Optimal Converter Beads can be used in any aquarium or pond, freshwater or saltwater, tropical or cold water. Optimal Converter Beads will not alter the water parameters, pH or water hardness. Optimal Converter Beads perform best when following Optimal Converter Tubes, Converter Beads are not a pre filter and may clog if exposed to the water prior to pre filtration. Optimal Converter Beads perform better than many other biological filter media due to its relatively small 12mm size. Optimising biological activity. It is essential that the filter media/water contact time is optimised, but this is not the only consideration, continuous water flow, clogging, mechanical filtration and maintenance requirements are all important. Larger biological media will maintain good water flow, but may be less effective mechanically finer media can clog easily and restrict water flow and may require additional filter maintenance.
